Street sign for Yarrow Crescent with a coat of arms on the left and red text 'E.6' on the right, mounted on a pole in front of a brick building with a tiled roof and a chimney against a blue sky with some clouds.

Yarrow

Yarrow Crescent in North Beckton is the only instance of this herb on London’s street signs.

Dried yellow flowers and green leaves with small yellow flowers on a white background.

Yarrow

The entire yarrow plant is edible and nutritious, but the foliage is pungent; while both its leaves and flowers are bitter and astringent. The leaves can be eaten young; raw, they can be added to salad. The leaves – with an aniseed-grass flavour – can be brewed as tea.
