Street sign reading 'Bullace Row, SE5, London Borough of Southwark', attached to a brick wall with a sidewalk below.

Bullace

The only instance of a bullace on a London street sign, Bullace Row is situated in Camberwell.

Cluster of ripening blue grapes on a vine with green leaves and some yellowing leaves, wet with water droplets.

Bullace

The bullace is a variety of plum. It bears edible fruit similar to those of the damson. Bullaces are often stated to only be suitable for cooking, as their flavour is usually rather acidic until fully ripe. As well as being used for stewing and making various fruit preserves, they were also traditionally used to make fruit wine.
