Lime

Lime is a very popular food name in London, featuring on at least 31 street signs in its singular form, while also in examples such as Limes Avenue, and The Limes. Limehouse is a riverside area in East London. Of course, several of these streets are named after the building material lime rather than the citrus fruit, including Lime Street in the City of London, the name of which comes from the lime burners who once sold lime from there for use in construction.

Lime

Lime juice is used to make limeade, and as an ingredient (typically as sour mix) in many cocktails. In cooking, lime is valued both for the acidity of its juice and the floral aroma of its zest. It is a common ingredient in authentic Mexican, Vietnamese and Thai dishes. Lime juice and zest are also frequently used in baking and in marinades for a variety of dishes.
