Sugar

Sugar Lane in Bermondsey is the only instance of sugar (in its isolated state) on London’s street signs. There are examples such as Sugar Loaf Walk, where the sugar loaf is a mass of refined sugar moulded into a large, conical shape. This was the standard way refined sugar was produced and sold for household use until the introduction of granulated and cube sugars in the late 1800.

Sugar

A general term for sweet-tasting, soluble carbohydrates, such as glucose and fructose, sugar is used to sweeten food and drinks, from baked goods to beverages, and also contributes to texture, colour, and flavour in food products.
