Woodcock

Woodcock Hill in Kenton is one of four instances of this game bird on London’s street signs. There are two Woodcock Closes, one just west of Heathrow Airport and one running off Woodcock Hill in Kenton. There’s also a street named just Woodcocks in Custom House.

Woodcock

Woodcock meat is dark, rich, and best served rare or pink, while the innards, including the heart, liver, and intestines (but not the gizzard), are considered a delicacy, along with the brain. The bird’s skin is delicate and often wrapped in streaky bacon to keep the meat moist and add flavour during roasting.
