Gurnard
There is just the one instance of this fish on London's street signs, Gurnard Close in Yiewsley, and that has only appeared in the 20 years since I started this project.
Gurnard
Gurnards are white, firm-fleshed fish that are cheap to buy and lend a good flavour to soups, stews and bouillabaisse, but can also be roasted whole or pan fried. They are often caught in British waters as a bycatch and discarded, but are becoming increasingly popular as a sustainable choice of fish. There are three different types of gurnard - red, grey and tub - which vary in shape, size and colour but rarely exceed 40cm in length.
