Salmon

There are five instances of this fish on London’s street signs, Salmon Lane is in Limehouse, Salmon Mews is in West Hampstead, Salmon Road is in Belvedere and there’s a Salmon Street in both Limehouse and North Wembley. Limehouse’s Salmon Lane isn’t actually named after the fish, rather it’s a corruption of ‘sermon’; the lane was the route people would walk to the church of St. Dunstan’s in Stepney to hear a sermon.

Salmon

With its delicate, sweet flesh and wide availability, salmon is one of the most popular fish consumed worldwide and is noted for its nutritional benefits. Salmon can be eaten raw as sashimi or sushi, marinated with sugar and dill to make gravadlax, or poached, pan-fried, grilled, baked or braised.
