Pepper

There are three instances of pepper on London’s street signs; Pepper Street is on the Isle of Dogs – perhaps tenuously linked to the spice trade and ships that would have imported the dried peppercorns to the old London docklands. A second Pepper Street is in Southwark and there’s a Pepper Close in North Beckton.

Pepper

The sweet (or bell) pepper belongs to the Western Hemisphere Capsicum family, which includes all types of peppers (except the peppercorn). Peppers are sweet, crisp and very versatile. They’ll add crunch to salads, colour to stir-fries and smoky sweetness to a plate of roasted veg.
